For 20 years Olga Tkachenko performs in a unique duet of vocal improvisations Duo Zikr.

Duo Zikr — is a duet of vocal improvisations, members of which are Igor Silin (Kalinauskas) and Olga Tkachenko. Duo Zikr uses unique vibe-vocal FREEVOICES technique based on Igor Kalinauskas’s psycho-energy technique and different vocal techniques such as chamber and folk vocals, Tibetan Mantra vocal techniques, Tuvan guttural singing, Sufi Zikr, Orthodox rites and others. “Zikr” is Arabic for “Praying”, “talk with God”.

Olga Tkachenko and Igor Kalinauskas met in “Fire Flower” Theatrical studio in 1989. In this studio two plays were staged: “Yurodiya,” based upon the novel “Crime and Punishment” by F. Dostoevsky and “Love Thy Neighbour” based on Lesya Ukrainka's play. While working on “Love Thy Neighbour” play, Igor Kalinauskas decided to create the Duo Zikr as an independent form of art. The first concert of Duo Zikr took place in 1993 at Smolniy Sobor and nearly 1000 people visited that concert.

After that Duo Zikr recorded more than 20 albums and performed a lot of concerts around the world. Duet also worked with different well-known musicians such as Boris Grebenshikov, Sergei Kuryokhin, Jivan Gasparyan, Yuri Morozov, Sergei Chigrakov Alexander Lyapin, Andrei Samsonov and others. Furthermore, Duo Zikr took part in a lot of inernational music — MIDEM 2009, 2010, 2011 (Cannes (France)), SXSW (Austin (TX)), LMW (London ) and PCMC (Sydney).

Nowadays Duo Zikr continues to work and perform concerts. New studio albums are expected by the 20-th anniversary of the Duo (in 2013).
